Those of you that know me. Know that I don’t just co found YourFLOCK — an values based employee retention platform. But that I also talk about the future of work. And technology. And try to predict the future.

With that hat on.

Some people might be surprised to hear that I love thinking about (but not necessarily fully believing in) Astrology. And how the stars and the passing of time in different phrases MIGHT help us appreciate the modern world.

Especially at this time of transition and change.

WELCOME TO THE NEW AGE.

Some people believe that we are entering a new age. The Age of Aquarius. The phrase “the dawn of the age of Aquarius” refers to the astrological belief that the world is transitioning from the age of Pisces. Which started at year 0 in the modern world. To the age of Aquarius (which started some 2000 or so years later.)

This transition is thought to be marked by a shift in humanity’s collective consciousness. And a new era of spiritual awakening, harmony, and progress.

There are many different interpretations of what the age of Aquarius will bring. And it is difficult to predict exactly what this new era will look like. Some people believe that the age of Aquarius will be a time of great technological and scientific advancements. While others believe it will be marked by a greater focus on spiritual and metaphysical exploration.

One of the key themes associated with the age of Aquarius is the idea of unity and interconnectedness. Many people believe that this new era will be marked by a greater sense of global unity and cooperation. As well as a greater appreciation for the interconnectedness of all living things.

In this new age, it is believed that humanity will move away from a focus on material wealth and power. And instead place a greater emphasis on compassion, understanding, and cooperation. This shift in consciousness is thought to be the key to creating a more harmonious and peaceful world.

Which can’t be a bad thing, right?

There are many different experts who have spoken about the age of Aquarius and its potential impact on humanity. Not all of them from Astrology but many are like Astrologer Rick Levine who says

“The Age of Aquarius will be a time of great spiritual awakening, and humanity will experience a new level of understanding and unity.”

And Astrologer Susan Miller who echoes this believing

“The Age of Aquarius is a time of great change and transformation, as humanity moves towards a more harmonious and cooperative way of living.”

Some commentators come from deeper backgrounds regarding spirituality. Like Spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle that comments that he believes that:

“The Age of Aquarius is a time of great hope and promise, as humanity begins to awaken to its true potential and the interconnectedness of all things.”

And the Spiritual leader the Dalai Lama who said:

“The Age of Aquarius marks a new era of spiritual awakening and understanding, as humanity begins to embrace its true nature and the interconnectedness of all living things.”

A time of interconnectness?

We’re currently transitioning from the Age of Pisces to Age of Aquarius. While there is no firm consensus among astrologers upon exact dates for the end and beginning of these periods. Some suggested Age of Aquarius began in December 2012 with the Mayan Calendar came to an end. Other astrologers suggested it started on Dec 21 2020 with Saturn entering Aquarius. And a rare alignment of Jupiter and Saturn took place, also known as Jupiter-Saturn conjunction on Dec 21, 2020.

Either way, in the previous Age of Pisces, there were tendencies for the mass majority to follow bosses and leaders. Which created top-down hierarchy as a result. Contrary to Piscean values, Age of Aquarius is about bottom-up initiative that will disrupt the old rules and come up with new ones.

Aquarius is a sign of cooperation, collaboration and community. Each person brings their gifts and skills to the table, offered in synthesized efforts to work for the greater good.

As Political scientist and author Noam Chomsky puts it:

“The Age of Aquarius will bring about a new level of understanding and cooperation among humanity, as we begin to recognize our shared interests and goals.”

Aquarius is about valuing innovative effort and treasuring each person’s individuality as well. It’s kinda spooky how covid and the remote work revolution COULD fit into all this — isn’t it? And how ideas like a values based bottom up employee feedback system like Your FLOCK — kinda fits in too…

And as we shift to the Age of Aquarius. People are hoping there will be less emphasis on money and material wealth. And people will be more focused on creativity and communication.

We could see the internet and social media as great examples of this. So many people see the technological advancements and the internet AS the trademarks of Aquarius. Which might be why we’re seeing so many disruptive innovations today.

Web 3 / Virtual reality / AI? Anyone?

Some people believe that the age of Aquarius will be a time of great technological and scientific advancements. And this will include the development of artificial intelligence (AI). And other cutting-edge technologies.

CHATGPT or GPT-3

For example, GPT-3, or Generative Pre-training Transformer 3, is a powerful language processing AI developed by OpenAI. That is capable of generating human-like text. And has been used in a variety of applications, including chatbots and virtual assistants.

And has taken the world by storm of the past few months.

Hitting one million users faster than any technology ever known.

And almost bringing it — to a grinding halt — as they can’t keep up with the demand. It really is truly amazing. But its not the only AI game in town…

The capabilities of AI are rapidly advancing.

And so it is estimated that by 2025, AI could be responsible for creating $15.7 trillion worth of economic activity.

Just imagine how much this is!

As AI technology continues to advance, it is likely that it will play an increasingly important role in shaping the age of Aquarius. And the direction of human progress.

Some people believe that AI has the potential to revolutionize the way we live, work, and communicate. And could potentially lead to significant advancements in fields such as healthcare, transportation, and education.

At the same time, however, it is important to consider the potential ethical implications of AI. And to ensure that these technologies are developed and used in a responsible and ethical manner.

In 2019, a study found that AI systems were more likely to exhibit bias against certain groups of people. Heck most large tech companies have had to shut down their AI recruiting and chat bots as they became racist!

Overall, the age of Aquarius is thought to be a time of great change and transformation for humanity. And I believe it is likely that AI and other cutting-edge technologies will play a significant role in shaping this new era.

Whether or not these technologies will ultimately lead to a more harmonious and cooperative world remains to be seen. But it is clear that they will have a profound impact on the way we live and the direction of human progress.

But let’s not kid ourselves, it is difficult to predict exactly what the age of Aquarius will bring. Many people believe that it will be a time of great spiritual awakening and transformation for humanity. As we move towards a more harmonious and cooperative way of living.

But it also might bring a new way for the rich to get super rich and the powerful to become more powerful.
